Mountain Bike Riders
Kirt Voreis
Style: DH, 4X, Jump, Street, Slopetyle
Hometown: Bend, OR
"The thing that's kept me stoked on riding all this time is that I was never just a racer training for race day. There's always been so much more to riding."
Kirt Voreis is a tough guy to categorize. He's made up with equal doses of blue-collar badass, beat poet, and bike racer. And he's done just about everything there is to do on two wheels. Having started riding mountain bikes as an x-c racer, he evolved into a pro downhiller, made a career out of 4X and slalom racing, and is now - while a good ten or more years older than the current generation of slopestyle athletes out there sending it on the jumps and making it into film segments. Although combating serious shoulder injury, his segment in PROGRESSION - Kranked 6 was monumental, shining with the true grit of his character.
All of this energy that Voreis carries with him is fuelled by his passion for riding. "Biking made me this person," he relates, "and the people riding are just as varied as the sport is, and that brings all this variety and diversity right back into the sport of mountain biking. It seems more acceptable to cross over and try different things. That's what makes it so cool."
