Mountain Bike Riders
Ben Boyko
Style: Slopestyle, Big Mountain Freeride, Dirt Jump, Street, BMX
Hometown: North Vancouver, BC
As a BMX rider, Ben Boyko spent his youth shredding up the trails and skate parks of the North Shore. He is often cited as one of today's hardest working riders, always digging, building, riding, and shooting.
Whether he's creating the perfect line for a video shoot, hauling logs to build a new stunt, appearing at events with his sponsors, or attending dirt jump and slopestyle competitions all over the globe, Ben approaches it all with his unique blend of quiet intensity and self-effacing good humour.
Boyko's smooth style of riding was captured in PROGRESSION - Kranked 6. Boyko's line, built on a clear-cut on Mount Elphinstone is simply, sick. "The line starts out at the top of a mountain on a single track that runs for quite some time to get you warmed-up for when it links up to the clear cut", Boyko explains. "The clear cut is filled with 9 stunts with maximum sketchy factor for maximum consequence. All of the stunts are in sequence to create the ultimate line. One of the biggest challenges on this shoot was trying to avoid punching myself in the face."
As for 2007: "I'm planning on hitting all the big comps this season", explains Boyko. "I can't wait to work on a new segment again, travel the world and ride with good friends."
